Did you know that we have a monthly crochet
subscription box called the Leither Collection?
With the love of crochet and everything about it we started a crochet subscription box back in October 2018.
I have been designing crochet patterns since 2012! I love coming up with new designs and having a theme to create those designs. After my husband started making crochet hooks last year after my crochet injury, I became inspired to crochet even more!
Then I started hand dyeing yarn and designing based on the colorway and weight of the yarn, that is when the Leither Collection Subscription Box was born!

You have no idea how excited I am for this month’s Leither Collection Subscription Box!! This was one of the hardest boxes to keep a secret. Every step of the way of creating this box was amazing. From creating the color palette for the yarn and then seeing it come to life as the dye was mixed. Then prepping the bare yarn and applying the dye to the yarn. I couldn’t wait for the yarn to go through the rest of the dye process (heat, cool, soak, wash, spin dryer and air drying) so that I could get it onto the yarn swift and winder so that I could get to crocheting with it! So let’s dive in deeper to our November 2019 box!
Last month our yarn colorway consisted of orange, brown, grey and cream and I wanted to still have that fall feel but give it a little more of a pop! We kept the the orange color palette, but we changed the brown to more of a chocolate brown and added a beautiful green and a bright purple/pink color to give a gorgeous pop! I knew we were entering the holiday season and I wanted the yarn to be a good weight to work up a few quick projects. This month we are adding a new base to our collection and this month the yarn is a sport weight that is a squishy 100% superwash merino and it has 328 yards and is 100 grams! Isn’t it absolutely gorgeous?
Beanies that I love!!

Lets talk about these gorgeous crochet hooks! This month we wanted the woods of the crochet hooks to complement our Turtle Bay color palette and we had just finished making a bunch of copperhead crochet hooks for orders and Eric had an idea to make a new design with the copperhead topper and design the rest of different and this may be my new favorite crochet hook and I want one in every size, maybe I can talk him into making me one in every size for Christmas? The funfetti wood has gorgeous subtle fall tones in it with the green, blue/grey and a brown/cream. The natural wood is our bocote wood and it has gorgeous shades of brown grains throughout. Both are super gorgeous in style and very comfortable to crochet with. Which one did you receive?
Since our theme this month is Turtle Bay, we HAD to have an adorable turtle stitch marker and as you can see it is very light in color but you can find that color in our inspiration themed card and I think it is that beautiful final piece to the Turtle Bay Collection.
Now lets dive into the crochet patterns, the first crochet pattern is the Turtle Bay Wrist Warmers, I have been wanting to design wrist warmers for a long time and this month I finally did it! Since we are approaching the holiday season, I wanted to design crochet patterns that would be super quick to work up even thought you had to make two of this pattern. The Turtle Bay Wrist Warmers are created using basic crochet stitches but the combination of the yarn colors and the texture create the beautiful pattern. If you are looking for a quick project to make and give as a gift or to keep for yourself (because HELLO these are amazing).
The second pattern that I designed was the Turtle Bay Coffee Cozy, I wanted another quick project (this one takes about an hour to make) that had gorgeous texture of course and with the multiple colors, it is such a fun design that I am in love with. The Turtle Bay Coffee Cozy is made into a rectangle that is stretchable to fit any coffee cup. With the Turtle Bay skein of yarn, you could make a pair of gloves and at least 2 or 3 coffee cozies. That is a lot of projects to make with one skein of hand dyed yarn! Which crochet pattern is your favorite?
I hope that you are loving having two different crochet patterns to choose from each month!
We love putting together the boxes every month, it is a lot of fun to put together every piece that goes into the box. We brainstorm what colors we want the yarn to be and if the crochet hooks will completely coordinate or complement the yarn. Once I have the colors for the yarn chosen, then I decide what I am going to make, I let the colors of the yarn tell me what it wants to be! We have also loved finding coordinating stitch markers to complete the set.
If you received the November 2019 box I would love to know what you favorite item from the box was your favorite. If you didn’t receive the box, would still love to know which item I showed you was your favorite and remember you can now purchase this as the Turtle Bay Kit in our store.
Don’t forget you can join at any time to receive the next month’s box, you can sign up at www.leithercollection.com and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out! Remember to use the code HOOKED to receive $5 off your first deluxe box.
